My Design Philosophy
Access to safe, sound structures is a right, not a discreet privilege. Yet, good, thoughtful design has been gatekept as a luxury item, likened to a purse, not a home. My designs aim to challenge this postmodern, rigid, and ego driven conception of access. Through these works, I profess my belief that architecture should contradict contemporary notions of property and ownership by channeling the collective, the feminine. To achieve this, I call for communities to be incorporated into the design process and for architects to campaign alongside grassroots movements, empowering the voices of those we design for.

Designing for Social & Environmental Well-Being

Architecture is fundamentally integrated into society and inevitably shaped by the lives of its inhabitants and the constraints of its environment. This makes the role of a building fluid, contextual, and collectively determined as it exists within an overarching narrative of place, community, and culture. Therefore, if a structure fails to meet the needs and limitations of its locality, it has failed at its foundation. To ensure a building continuously serves its community and environment, architecture must be malleable, adapting to ever-changing societies. Only through ongoing transformation can a building honor its fundamental interdependence with inhabitants and nature.
